Active Supervision in Practice: Being Present, Purposeful, and Proactive
In our work with children, we know how vital supervision is to their safety and well-being. Active supervision goes beyond simply watching - it’s about being present, intentional, and engaged in ways that truly support each child’s holistic development.
This workshop is designed to help you strengthen your skills, refresh your perspective, and feel more confident in your daily practice. Together, we’ll explore what active supervision really means and how you can apply it meaningfully in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Throughout the session, we’ll examine what active supervision looks like in practice, and what it doesn’t. You’ll learn six practical strategies you can implement right away, and explore how to create safe, intentional spaces that support children’s health and engagement. We’ll also dive into ways to build stronger communication and teamwork with your co-educators, and revisit and refine your program’s supervision policies.
This session is a chance to reflect, connect, and walk away with tools that make a real difference.
