Fostering Language and Early Literacy Development in Young Children

Early literacy refers to the foundational skills that children develop before they learn to read and write independently in their school age years. Early childhood educators play vital roles in developing these essential life skills through talking, singing, writing, playing, and reading with children everyday! 

Books, however, are only the beginning. Responsive, caring adult relationships, alongside responsive literacy-rich environments, essentially support children for successful reading, writing, communication, and socialization in the future.
